When we speak of corrugated for electrical system, we are referring to a double-layer polyethylene pipe with a smooth inner wall and a corrugated outer wall.

This is a cable carrier pipe intended for installation underground in a trench and is used to protect cables in underground electrical and telephone installations.

Tubes for electrical wires are mainly distinguished by their resistance to crushing defined by the Newton unit of measurement (N). The main cable protectors produced and marketed are therefore divided into 3 types:

  • Cable duct 450 N: used for the protection of low- and medium-voltage electrical wires;
  • Enel 750 N cable duct: applied in the protection of low and medium voltage electrical wires and underground telephone cables;
  • Cable duct 450 N Telecom: used for the protection of low-voltage electrical wires and underground telephone cables.

The electrical wire tube is made of a neutral high-density polyethylene compound, masterbatch dyed with anti-UV additive for 1-year resistance at 130 KLangley.

As we have already seen in previous articles, the EN 61386 standard establishes the internal and external diameters that pipes for electrical cables must have in order to be marketed; manufacturers, on the other hand, have the option of defining the packaging, i.e. whether to make pipes for electrical systems in coils or in bars, and the relevant length.

Due to its structural strength, the Polieco cable duct requires no special care during transport, unloading and storage.
